TEXTBOOK ANALYSIS
The primary purpose of learning English of entire students in the world is being able to communicate. In order to achieve the above purpose, of course, a tool is necessary. Textbook is the standard tool which created to enable them study the language itself. The students usually imitate what they have learnt and read through the textbook so that the significant effects will be obtained.
As has been stated, English textbook give much contribution to the students. It can be said that the textbook is a main source of information which being searched by them. Besides, the textbook is also able to develop their language acquisition, construct the habit formation of the students in using the language, and also change their language behaviors. Therefore, the better textbook is constructed, the better output will be got. Regrettably, not all of textbook which published in Indonesia is good enough and fulfilling the criteria. There are many evidences show that some textbook, particularly in senior high school do not meet the standard of good textbook. Let’s see for the example, for the twelfth grade of student’s worksheet which is used, the learning objectives of the worksheet are not in good arrangement so that it can make the learning activities a little bit hard. Furthermore, many textbooks are published in beautiful interface, the content is not either. To solve this problem, of course, an analysis of textbook is necessary. In this analysis, the researchers limit the analysis only in worksheet area; the researchers also intend to measure how far the appropriateness and the inappropriateness of the worksheet use in English language teaching and to measure how far the learning objectives are achieved through studying this worksheet.
